A Nanosecond Moment, Rendered by Supercomputers

Property of Claudia Parisuana

I'm thrilled to share that this image, which I generated using the PISALE code—developed by David Eder and Alice Koniges, who also mentored me—was recognized in the 2024 Science as Art competition at NERSC!

This moment means a lot to me. It's incredible how we're not only able to capture ultrafast phenomena experimentally on the nanosecond scale, but also model and simulate them using high-performance computing. I ran this simulation on the NERSC supercomputer, and seeing it come to life visually—and be honored—was truly exciting.
